Well helloooo! It's been awhile, hey? I can't believe how times flies. Because this entry will have no pictures, I will try to keep it somewhat brief. I just felt the need for an update because so much has happened.
Finals week gets easier every year and I only had one final this semester so it wasn't bad at all. I was more worried about getting my approval to do my research for my grad project and it thankfully came on the very last day of classes - December 19. In case I haven't mentioned what I'm doing, I'll be going into two portables at Goodrich Middle School in Lincoln and testing the temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide levels to assess the indoor air quality of the rooms. It took awhile to find a classroom with Christmas break and all but I'm hoping to test one room this week and another next week. The final draft of my project is due February 26 so I need to get on it now so I'm not stressing later!
I haven't stressed too much this semester yet, but I've also been learning to use my time more efficiently. We have an interdisciplinary team design project where we two mechanical, two electrical, and two structural students and we basically go through the entire process of designing a building. Last week I spent 12.5 hours on that class (we have to log our time - that's the only reason I kno) and I will be spending that much if not more, each and every week until it's complete!
For the second year in a row now, I made a quick decision and bought a plane ticket for a trip over New Years. This year... HAWAII!! I was able to spend a full week on the beautiful islands of Maui and Oahu with Ryan, my BFF - Brianna, and her husband Andy. Believe me, I know how incredibly lucky I am to be able to travel like I do! Maybe New Years in Europe next year??
Sadly, that's pretty much my update for the past 50 days or so. Practically all of my time is spent either at school or with Ryan. We go on a lot of double dates with Rob and Melissa, and I try to spend time my other close friends, as well. Life at the dorms has been crazy. Rob and I have had to meet with 49 residents who have gotten in trouble since Christmas break. This year is absurd. We've evicted probably 5 people so far, and had an incident over the weekend where we will be evicting another person today. This is not normal. The kids this year are AWFUL.
Last thing I'll mention is wedding planning. We've gotten A LOT done lately which is such a huge relief for me! We're trying to pay for as much as we can now so that we don't have a huge cost all at once at the end. Since my last post we've pretty much finalized invitations and have bought the necessary supplies, our guestbook and engagement pics DVD are in the mail, most of the vases have been purchased for centerpieces, dance floor and linens have been ordered, addresses are being gathered, we wandered around Bed, Bath, and Beyond to start thinking about gift registration, our appointment with our florist is tomorrow... it's finally all coming together! I feel like everything lately has been reminding me of families and marriage and I cannot tell you how excited I am to be married to Ryan and start our own little family! Don't get too excited about kids, yet! He thinks I'm baby hungry and won't want to wait longer than 6 months, I have other plans. So we'll see!
That is all for now! I've enjoyed all of your recent posts and I hope mine didn't bore you too much. I know it wasn't one of my best. :)
